The Bridge pub in Shefford recently re-opened after a refurbishment and we discovered it now serves food. Fantastic news, another pub for our delivery boys to review!
After a long day delivering magazines, we headed over to eat and drink. We received a friendly welcome from our waitress, Jade, who showed us to our table. You can choose where to dine, either the front or back bar, we chose the back bar, purely because it has a huge black and white print on the wall showing the old railway line cutting across Shefford High Street. Fascinating to see, a real step back in time.
For dinner, John ordered Pie & Mash - beef & ale pie with thick chunky cuts of steak, which fell apart in the mouth, a nice layer of carrot at the base and tasty pastry, delicious - exactly how a pie should be. Andrew ordered a pizza - pepperoni with jalapeno and sliced peppers. It was nice and spicy with ample cheese and an authentic tasting base.
Due to the recent refurbishment the pub is immaculate, with nicely upholstered railway carriage-style seating and plenty of dining tables.
We also had a lovely chat with the manager, Vicki, who manages the pub with her husband Tom. She explained about the regular events taking place at The Bridge; Wednesday night is the very popular Quiz Night, which regularly has a huge rollover cash prize, also Friday night is the Acoustic Covers night, perfect if you like live music.
The Bridge also has some great offers on food; Tuesday night has a 2 for 1 offer on pizzas, and on Wednesday it’s Pie Night, buy 2 pies and a bottle of wine for only £25, fantastic if you fancy tasty food at an affordable price. You can keep up to date with their offers by following the pub on facebook @TheBridgeShefford.
We left the pub to head home having enjoyed a lovely meal in delightful surroundings.
