Across Bedfordshire people celebrated the 75th anniversary of VE Day. A truly remarkable day, with a glorious sense of unity, hope and patriotism, which swept through our local communities.
With all public gatherings cancelled, residents used their initiative to hold alternative celebrations to mark the end of fighting against Nazi Germany in Europe during World War Two. Whilst observing the social distancing rules, people were still able
to come together and celebrate, with organised street parties which included afternoon tea, fancy dress parades, quizzes, music and singing.
Our LivingLife photographer hit the streets to capture these special moments.
Abbey Donald, one of our Facebook page followers, said the following: "Thank-you for capturing this.. was lovely to see my childhood street with my parents having their VE Day party.. sad to miss it but was lovely to be able to see it"
